Life in Herculaneum came to a sudden end in 79 AD,

Life in Herculaneum came to a sudden end in 79 AD, when Mount Vesuvius erupted. Unlike nearby Pompeii, which was buried under layers of volcanic ash, Herculaneum was engulfed by a pyroclastic surge of superheated gas and molten debris. This flow hardened into rock, remarkably preserving the city’s buildings, frescoes and artifacts.

I created a series of drawings on wood veneers, capturing this lost world through texture and line.
